Film 1070

Film 1070 at Salt Lake Community College is a class that focuses on understanding diversity within the human race through film.

As part of our course curriculum we were assigned to write an MLA format paper about a film topic. To do this we first had to choose a film we’ve seen in class and explore a topic it covers.

I chose to write about the film “Miss Representation,” a film that explores gender equality and sexism in America. The filmmakers make a particular effort to villainize America’s media companies, arguing their portrayal of women is grossly limited and sexualized. I agree with this idea, however I do not agree with the idea that the differences between men and women should be comprehensively equated.
